Awards
The NCMHD Director’s Awards recognize individuals and groups or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary contributions in science, practice, or policy toward the improvement of minority health or the elimination of health disparities.
EligibilityAwards are open to Federal Government and non-Federal Government individuals, groups, organizations, or institutions. Award Categories and Criteria
NCMHD Director’s Awards will be made in three categories. Two awards—individual and group/organization—will be given in each category. The selection committee will use the following criteria to analyze applications in each category:
- Excellence in science, practice, or policy to improve minority health or support the elimination of health disparities
- Outstanding contributions in the field of health disparities that have significantly impacted or have the potential to impact a substantial number of people
- Stellar achievements that catalyze new intersections and interactions amongst the fields of science, practice, and policy
- Significant actions that lead to improved health outcomes in health disparity communities
- Measurable record of accomplishment in improving minority health or in support of the elimination of health disparities
- Innovation in science, practice, or policy to address minority health or health disparities
- Original contributions in the field of minority health or health disparities
- New paradigms that catalyze new intersections and interactions among the fields of science, practice, and policy
- Creative strategies that lead to improved health outcomes in health disparity communities
- Leadership in science, practice, or policy in improving minority health or advancing the field of health disparities
- Demonstrated commitment to community participation
- Instrumental catalyst for collaborations and partnerships
- Proactive initiative in bridging the fields of science, practice, and policy
