WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

Professional Development Workshop 2007

Objectives

To highlight the importance of building collaborations and partnerships between programs and scientific disciplines. To familiarize participants with a variety of NCI funding opportunities that can support their efforts to develop into an independent cancer investigator.

• To briefly overview the NIH/NCI grants process.

• To emphasize critical components to building a successful research career and obtaining NCI sponsored grants through a series of targeted presentations, informational grant writing sessions, and a demonstration of peer review. 

• To encourage the participants of the Comprehensive Minority Biomedical Branch and Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities programs to network with each other as well as with NCI staff towards development of support networks and potential collaborations.
