WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT
Statistical and Epidemiology Issues in HIV Research
April 11–13, 2007
Vail, Colorado
A Workshop Sponsored Jointly by the
NIH, NIAID, Division of AIDS
The Forum for Collaborative HIV Research at The George Washington University
You are invited to attend a workshop entitled Statistical and Epidemiology Issues in HIV Research, sponsored by the NIH, NIAID, Division of AIDS; and the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research at The George Washington University.
The Workshop is intended for statisticians, epidemiologists, clinicians, and basic scientists who are engaged in HIV research. The Workshop will be of particular value to those with an interest in developing and applying new analytic methods, tools, and technologies to the design and analysis of randomized and observational studies of HIV-related treatments and vaccines. The Workshop will provide an opportunity for scientists to share expertise developed in research on biological systems, viral evolution, and viral-host interactions, as well as on HIV prevention and treatment.
Specific objectives of the Workshop are to:
- Review current standards and discuss novel approaches in study design and analytic strategies for randomized and observational HIV research;
- Broaden the knowledge base of and promote networking among scientists who develop these approaches;
- Build and strengthen research analytic capacity, quality, and efficiency through sharing of theoretical frameworks, analytic tools, biologic and data resources, and technical expertise; and
- Integrate and coordinate analytic methods to inform effective measurement, modeling, synthesis, and inference tools to address research questions in HIV.
The Workshop will begin the evening of April 11th with a welcome reception and will be followed by two full days of scientific presentations, a poster session, and roundtable discussions. Be sure to register before the deadline because participation in the Workshop will be limited to 150 attendees.
