National Cancer Institute Symposium on Chromosome Biology:
Genome-Wide Chromatin Structure and Function
October 30–31, 2008
Natcher Conference Center, Bethesda, Maryland
Welcome
Welcome to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Symposium on Chromosome Biology: Genome-Wide Chromatin Structure and Function.
On behalf of the NCI Center for Cancer Research, Center of Excellence in Chromosome Biology, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to this symposium.
The mission of the Center of Excellence in Chromosome Biology (CECB) is to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms involved in chromosome function, how aberrations in chromosomes and chromatin lead to disease, and how these defects can be corrected. Towards achieving our mission, this symposium brings together internationally renowned experts in the fields of chromatin and transcription, epigenetics, cellular organization of gene expression, DNA damage and repair, and genomic instability.
We hope this symposium offers you an opportunity to learn more about the current status of chromosome and chromatin biology, share your research, and discuss the use and implications of these advances for clinical applications.
Sincerely,
Center of Excellence in Chromosome Biology Steering Committee
